On Thursday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Ceyla Pazarbasioglu, Head of the IMF mission in Ukraine.
In the beginning of the meeting, V.Lytvyn expressed his expectation that the mission of the International Monetary Fund "will render a possibility to analyze the economic processes in the country more thoroughly".
Ceyla Pazarbasioglu stated that the visit of the IMF mission was "of technical nature" and aimed at the study of the current financial-economic situation in Ukraine.
The Parties expressed their opinions concerning the socio-economic situation. Thus, it was stated that any recession was of a temporary nature and the authorities had to exert every effort to minimize its consequences.
V.Lytvyn stated that "the work of all the branches of authorities was of vital importance to reach the consensus, develop a unitary policy and implement reforms". Common responsibility is also of great significance.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Head of the IMF mission stressed the necessity to control the funds received by Ukraine within the scope of the "stand-by" funds project.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that the Parties discussed the "actions of the authorities, including the Parliament, and their efficiency as regards the present-day financial-economic situation".
"We discussed whether the authorities, the public institutes were capable of adopting reasonable resolutions, of securing predictability and demonstrating common responsibility and predictable results", - stated V.Lytvyn.
"Today, I resemble a person who tries to hold the ones who escape from the front line to the opposition. It is almost impossible to suppress the rush, there is no will to conduct a serious dialogue", - he explained.
Meeting the President of Ukraine of Wednesday, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine suggested that the National Academy of Sciences prepared a national report concerning the socio-economic situation in the country and the situation in the banking sector in view of the lack of public confidence to the authorities.
"Unfortunately, the attempts to launch the dialogue at the opening of the session were not realized. We drift with the stream and compete as to who promises more. Nobody wants to think about the future", - he stated.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the necessity to develop a balanced socio-economic policy, so that "people could feel that the State provides for the living of the people and the country".
V.Lytvyn believes that under the conditions of the recession, the tariffs for the public utilities must be fixed "at the average level". "People must see that the State adopts an equal attitude to everyone. However, the tariffs must also correspond to the possibilities of the people", - he stated.
